Your scheme of the game has been fundamentally effected by the inclusion of this character. But that seems like what you're describing. But I guess my issue is that if Rash remains in the game from here on out are you seriously going to forfeit every match against the character? There's characters we all hate playing against but it doesn't result in us hating the entire game. What you're describing is a perfect example of this: you have an idea or notion that describes "Killer Instinct", Rash's existence is in opposition to that idea, and therefore is forcing you alter this idea, which you don't want to do.īut anyways, I hear 'ya to a certain extent. A scheme is a way that an individual organizes a collection of information, and that scheme often paints the way that they interact with new information. I don't want to get into an argument of semantics, but by what you've just written I think that we are discussing your "scheme" of things. As things stand, I see myself forfeiting every single match against Rash because I don't want to look at this abomination - if I'm still playing KI after SFV and Rising Thunder come out - I will not be a happy camper when playing against this character (but will not quit to not ruin the fun for others).Īnyone else in the same boat or am I all alone here?ĮDIT: Here's another perspective which makes some valid arguments to the contrary as usual, but he really just doesn't look right to me. I am not against the idea of guest characters, NRS did it right in MK9 and MKX not to look far, but this is just too much. The wrecking ball transformation, the huge boot animation, the childish puns, all of that instantly breaks any and all immersion and just makes me cringe. Suddely, out of nowhere, you get an over the top, cartoony TMNT ripoff who just doesn't fit into the world at all.

The KI world is dark and full of conflict. However, all of those characters are gritty even Cinder's trash talk fits well with his character and with the world. You have a werewolf, an anime AI in a robot body, and undead skeleton, Human Torch and so on. I realize that KI is a very inter-textual game that takes tropes and ideas from all over the place. For example, his ram charge is Glacius' shoulder, his instinct is the same as Orchid's and so on.

I'm not going to touch on his moveset just yet, a lot of his moves seem like copies of other moves and placeholders at the moment, or at least going to be refined. Granted, I did not play Battletoads in the past, so there's no nostalgia factor at play here and I'm speaking from the perspective of a fairly recent fighting game convert (about two years now). Ever since yesterday's announcement, I'm seeing a lot of positive reception for Rash and I can't understand why.
